It is the first example of reporting the actual incident, and not "fabricating" it "to fit" the hand wringer's version.
I wonder where Reverend Al "I have a podium by my bed" Sharpton has been on this? Police don't just randomly stop anybody, and they don't randomly pick on non-hyphenated Americans. They have a license plate, a description of clothing or jewelery or tattoos or other identifiable markings to justify an arrest where police did not personally witness the crime.

Statistics, some argue, can be twisted (especially by the media) for selfish ends. An intelligent individual can recognize when statistics are "made to fit", such as when the media outcries gun violence and cites injuries and death -- they include the criminals who have been shot by police. This would constitute a pro-active method of the media to further inflame tensions of all kinds, to create more "news."

Everybody is so timid to speak out because racism is apparently defined as discrimination against non-whites. To put it bluntly, a white person cannot cry racism, yet they experience daily racial insults on the street, on TV and in other media, whenever the term "cracker" or "honky" is spouted, among others. And for those who believe that "african-american" is a more polite way of saying "black", what about all the caucasian african-americans? The news reports should be blind to colour. What possible other affect could there be to the public when they report, as an example, that a male youth was arrested, who is black, for robbing a liquor store? If he was white, those three words "who is black" would be omitted. Why not tall? How about fat? What about "who was stupid-looking" while we're on the subject. Because then the public would have tensions against tall, fat, and/or stupid-looking people. And then the fat people of the world will unite, and "take-back" the word FAT, and make it mean "cool". Oh, wait, that has already happened. Why don't the reporters use their noses and let us know how they smell, too?

But I digress. This is about the arrest of a belligerent individual, who happened to be black (if he were white, would this even have made it into the news? Even if he still said "its because I'm black, innit?"), who concealed proof in order to support the stereotype to create a platform for racism. It is clear to me that the officers conducted their investigation professionally. It is also clear to me that Gates did not possess the gonads to pretend to draw a non-existent pistol on the officers, which would have suited his apparent agenda.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
